World Menopause Day: An Unburdening

I read something this week that made me stop in my tracks. It was a newsletter from a wellness writer—someone who actually uses and recommends our protein powder (though she spelled our name wrong, which gave me a good laugh). She wrote about her decades-long obsession with drinking eight glasses of water a day, refilling the same Evian bottle over and over until her colleagues begged her to throw it out.

About how she's now questioning everything she thought she knew about health and wellness. About protein water and the suspicious timing of when women suddenly started being told we weren't eating enough protein – right as the protein supplement industry exploded.

And you know what? She's right to question it all.

The Exhausting Contradictions

No fat. Lots of fat. No salt. Salt is good. Cardio only. No, weights only. Don't stretch. Wait, now you have to pay someone to stretch you.

The nutrition fads aimed at women have been contradictory since the first diet was invented. And honestly? It's exhausting.

As a small menopause protein company, I'm living this contradiction every single day. How do we compete with massive brands that have unlimited marketing budgets? How do we afford the kind of third-party testing for heavy metals that costs thousands of dollars per batch—testing that Consumer Reports just revealed most protein powders desperately need?

The truth is, we can't. Not in the way the big companies can.

What We Do Instead

We buy our ingredients from reputable distributors who test each individual bag. We hand-pack every order in our certified gluten-free, vegan kitchen. We keep our formulas simple—really simple. We don't add a dozen trendy adaptogens or make wild promises. We just make clean protein powder that tastes good and does what it's supposed to do.

Is it perfect? No. But it's honest. And it's what we can do as a small company that actually cares about the women who use our products.

My Wish For You This World Menopause Day

A few days ago, I had tea with a dear friend. She's been really struggling with her health—has seen several doctors, has a kitchen full of supplements, is on HRT, and is still waiting for test results.

What struck me most was when she said she felt very far from her intuition about her health. That she'd lost touch with her body and the messages it sends.

She decided to take a break from the daily pill regimen and HRT as a reset. (And before anyone panics—I'm not recommending you stop anything without consulting your doctor. That's her choice, made with her healthcare provider.)

But here's what I am saying: We care about you.

We care a great deal about the powders we make. But more than that, we care that you're not drowning in confusion about how to take care of yourself.

An Unburdening

My wish for you on this World Menopause Day is simple: an unburdening of the confusion.

You don't need protein water with collagen peptides and whey isolate in a cute packet. You don't need to obsess over hitting exact macro targets every single day. You don't need to buy every supplement that Instagram tells you is essential.

What you need is to build a foundation. To eat real food that nourishes you. To stay strong and vital in a way that feels sustainable, not punishing.

Only you know what's best for your body.

I personally eat protein-based meals throughout my day. I keep it very simple—real food and good-quality protein powder when I need it, and I pay attention to how I feel. That's it. That's the whole strategy.

Keeping It Simple

The newsletter writer mentioned that after years of research and getting in touch with herself, she understands that "the body is an exquisite machine with an ability to communicate—and receive communication—far beyond what any of us can understand."

She's right. Your body knows things. It's trying to tell you things.

The question is: in all the noise of conflicting advice and marketing messages and Instagram Reels of people eating protein wrapped around protein with a topping of protein... can you still hear it?

This World Menopause Day, maybe the most radical thing we can do is trust ourselves a little more. Question the narratives a little harder. And remember that we don't need to be perfect.

Stay strong. Stay vital. Keep it simple.

And most importantly, stay connected to that exquisite machine that is your body.

P.S.—To the wellness writer who mentioned us (even with the wrong spelling): thank you for keeping it real. We see you. We appreciate you. And we're right there with you, questioning everything too.
